Wyngswood is a small village and civil parish in the area of Basingstoke in Hampshire, England. It is located near to the boundary of Newbury in Berkshire, at the junction of the B3052, the A339 and the B3443. Adjacent villages are Daychurch, Basingstoke, Crowthorne, North Waltham and Steventon.
The village is in the Test Valley local government district and the South East ward, and the parliamentary constituency of Basingstoke and Deane. The population of the civil parish is estimated at 8,500 in 2013.
From the middle of the 19th century to the end of the 19th century, Wyngswood was part of the parish of North Waltham, and, like the other parts of North Waltham, was served by a railway station. Wyngswood railway station had been on the Wycombe Railway until the line was closed to passenger services in 1953. Wyngswood, then part of Basingstoke and Deane, was incorporated into Basingstoke Municipal Borough in 1965.
Wyngswood is an Anglican parish, and the parish church is dedicated to St Eadmund. The parish church is Grade I listed building, built of Kentish Ragstone. The church has a Norman doorway and a fourteenth-century tower. The interior contains some monuments, including a brass, by Edward Bird, depicting the deceased Walter Trevor, son of Sir Thomas Trevor, 1st Baronet (1497–1566), with an epitaph in Latin. A mural in the Church also commemorates Walter Trevor and is thought to have been painted by Thomas Betterton (died 1695).
Wyngswood Park, large parkland estate and house, of about in extent, centred on the village, was the home of the distinguished traveller and artist Edward Lear (1812–88) from the 1840s. It was bought for and occupied by Lear and his family as a retreat 0b46394aab
