Though the final line-up of the album Mr. Rock Vocalist does feature one original song co-written by Eric Martin, the cover and alternate titles proclaim the album to be a jazz album. This is quickly criticized by some sources. James E. Baker suggests that the album has almost entirely unfamiliar jazz styles. Adrian Cusack, in a 2010 review on The Legend Of Country Joe, states that most of the album is " burlesque jazz ". I maintain that regardless of the veracity of these statements, the album is quite successful and has a unique style.
Eric Martin began performing as the opening act of Japanese music band, V6, in 2008, and was at the president's table of their third national tour 16 & 17 (2008-2009), until he was ejected from the band on June 28, 2009 due to his association with a mutual friend to the female vocalist of V6, who went on to die of an apparent suicide in July.
The album features covers of songs by the following Japanese hard rock bands: [4] V6, Rabit, X JAPAN, SEEK, L'Arc~en~Ciel, Tahiti Mon Amour, and erogami*. The albums begins with a cover of V6`s song "Baby Blue", which is a homage to their lead singer, Hayato. d2c66b5586
