Did The Kodak slide scanner, no matter how good it is, is still "okay" compared to the new Toshiba and Canonhigh-end slide scanners. The Kodak slide scanner's picture quality could be improved. It's quite a pity. This software is not user friendly. It can be hard to use, creating a mess when saving a scan. Besides, how can be a home user master this? I'm afraid Kodak's trying to sell products to home users.
And at less than $30 plus shipping, it's a bargain! Even if you only have a 1,000 or a few hundred images, it is well worth getting it to have a backup system. In a pinch, it can scan 10,000 images.-)

The slides need to be electrically charged initially. My scanner could not figure out that I needed 2 AAA batteries, even though the instruction manual said so, so it used a different set of 4 AAAs "by design".
